The car as a status symbol slowly disappears and the car becomes an object of use. From A to B it should drive us and it doesn't matter how strong it is and how great it looks. Especially in urban areas where parking prices are high, car sharing is becoming increasingly popular. Not only that, sharing a car can save a lot of money. Buying a car in threes saves 2/3 of the purchase price. Insurance, registration and repairs are also divided by 3. No wonder that so many people prefer this alternative to their own vehicle. We have developed WeeShare for this purpose.
Back in 2010 we bought an old Jaguar, a lover's object. Since we all live in the city, we all agreed to share the vehicle and to forego constant availability. On the other hand we saved 8000 USD per capita over the 2 years in which we had it. An already insane sum for a cheap vehicle like ours. At the beginning it was very chaotic and confusing. Quickly questions arose about who should pay for what, how we want to compensate the costs among ourselves, who has it when and where it is (we didn't have a fixed parking space). We communicated a lot via telephone, chat and public calendars but the chaos remained. This was the start of an app that serves all these purposes. Knowing that this need does not only arise in vehicles, we have developed the app so that it can be used for all objects that are shared. Detailed information about car sharing can be found in our article Carsharing.
Where is the car
If there is no private parking space available, it is never sure where the car is. For this purpose WeeShare uses the position system which allows to determine exactly where it is parked on the map. When the position changes, everyone is immediately informed and can see the current location. In addition, the positioning system can also record distances or distances so that costs incurred can be allocated to them.
Who has the car
So it is clear who has the car and when and to secure reservations in the future, the booking system of WeeShare allows you to save bookings via the calendar. In addition, lock entries can be recorded in which the car is not available. Just as the position system allows you to enter distances, you can use the automatically recorded booking times to distribute costs to the usage time. Users are immediately notified of any changes in availability.
Who paid for what
When sharing, the cost overview quickly becomes complicated. Most costs can be shared by all users, but there are exceptions. Some expenses do not affect all users or the fuel should only be distributed according to use. These aspects were also taken into account in the development. The WeeShare expenditure system allows the distribution of costs in different scenarios. This means that booking times or distances can be used for distribution or simply the distribution to all or only specific users. In addition, you can charge per KM and / or per hour, which automatically records the costs when used. Further information about the WeeShare expenditure system can be found here: Split expenses.
Whether you just want to share the car with your friends or make it available for others is up to you. With the above functions, there are no more obstacles to sharing your car. Finally, you can use the chat and note system to exchange text and image information about the car. Important, always accessible information can be stored as notes.
